As far as introductory guitars go, the Yamaha Pacifica is probably at the top end of the market. This stunning electric guitar is very affordable, usually at around £200 and suitable for beginner through to intermediate players.

On a technical level, the Yamaha Pacifica guitar is capable of producing both heavy rock sounds as well as laid back blues tones due to its chunky humbucker and dual single coil pickups. The guitar is also often available complete with whammy bar to create those vibrato sounds whilst bending the strings, finishing off those classic rock solos perfectly!

In terms of appearance, the Yamaha Pacifica is available in multiple colours with various finishes. The most popular choice is the natural wood finish with solid white scratchplate.

Who is the Yamaha Pacifica suitable for?

The Pacifica is not a hugely technical guitar but it is of a superb quality, putting it at the high-end of the beginner market. The best thing about this guitar is that there is some crossover between beginner and intermediate, so unlike many other starter guitars that the beginner will outgrow quickly, the Pacifica will serve you for years to come.

Yamaha is a known and trusted household brand, and their guitars are always of a quality build. The Pacifica is great for learning with but hook it up to a quality amp and run it through a distortion pedal and it is up there with the likes of Fender and Gibson, making it suitable as a gigging guitar also.

How much does it cost?

This is a mid-range guitar aimed at the beginner-intermediate market so expect to pay between £200-£250, depending on where you buy. For a guitar of this calibre, I cannot recommend it enough. I have owned and gigged with this guitar for many years and it has always served me well.
